We love our volunteers!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baltimore!
As a private 501(c)(3) non-profit, we depend on the generosity of people like you to help us serve children-in-need. Since we are responsible for their safety, it’s important for us to screen volunteers. We also want YOU to have a meaningful experience as a volunteer. Therefore, it’s just as important that we get to know you and what it is that you would like to do. We respect that your time is precious.
Call or email JoEllen Robinson, BHGH Business manager to receive our a Community Volunteer Application. firstname.lastname@example.org. 443-503-3463 Once we receive your completed application, one of us will contact you to set up a brief interview with our Program Director. After the interview, depending on your volunteer role, we will request a background check, a copy of your driver’s license and driving record plus fingerprints. THIS IS EASIER THAN IT SOUNDS! We promise. We will take you through the process step-by-step. The costs you will incur for all of this is approximately $55.00. Once this is done, you can begin.
Here is a list of needs that you can help us with:
*Driving – Our scholars, like most teens, are very busy! Our full-time house parents need help driving them to and from school, extracurricular activities, and home visits. Sometimes we need help transporting their family members to and from visits and/or school events.
*Cooking – Have you seen how much growing kids eat? Each and every day we provide delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals for our scholars prepared by the house parents. Just as you like to have an occasional “night-off” from kitchen duties, so do they! We would love for you to come and cook in our kitchen, or drop something off prepared in your own kitchen. We promise to clean up!
*Research – There are so many wonderful and enriching things to do in Baltimore. Can you help us find out when and where they are? We need a compiled schedule of upcoming events, happenings, concerts, performances, fairs, summer programs, “free admission” days, and any other enrichment opportunities.
*Tutors – Math, language, writing, or whatever your favorite subject!
*Experts – Do you have an expertise you’d like to share with our scholars? Are you a college admissions officer, an accomplished musician, human rights activist, trial lawyer, poet, or brain surgeon? Our scholars love to learn from those who can open their eyes and minds to what is available in the world. We welcome presentations in our home or at your office/workplace.
*Couponing – Taking care of our scholars within our limited budget takes creativity! Can you help us find deals, freebies and the like?
*Facilities Maintenance – Just like your own home, our homes occasionally have repair needs. We always need plumbers, electricians, repairmen and the like, who will assist us at a reduced cost.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Sincerely, The Staff and Scholars
