BHGH Collegian Donte Jones receives Bachelors Degree from University of Maryland Eastern Shore

Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baltimore is proud to announce that Donte Jones has earned his Bachelors Degree in Human Ecology with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore during their December 2016 commencement exercises.

Donte entered the Boys Hope Girls Hope program in 2008 and graduated from Archbishop Curley High School in 2011.

Life before Boys Hope Girls Hope was unpleasant for Donte. His father was murdered on the streets of Baltimore when he was just eleven years old. He was surrounded by a home life filled with drugs and gangs and felt there was no way out for him. He came to live at Boys Hope Girls Hope when he was in the 8th grade and in search of some stability in his life.

Donte remembers his time at BHGH, “The things I liked best is the family-like relationships the staff build with the scholars. It was very important for me when first coming into the program because before in my life I rarely felt that love from people. Therefore, receiving that love from people who weren’t in my family meant a lot to me and has stuck with me ever since.”
“I was the first in my family to graduate college and it means a lot to me to set an example of success for my siblings.”

Donte interned at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Child Development Center on campus and is currently working in an after-school program for Baltimore City schools.Donte Graduation
